As Head of Smart Places, Jules Barker is responsible for articulating and delivering British Land’s vision for digital in the built environment. This includes the correct scoping of the tech hardware in our buildings, creating a data environment to allow insights and building control, and creating software and services for the user to engage seamlessly with their space.
Jules’ background is strategy consulting, with a career at Bain and Company before moving to the Strategy team at British Land. At Bain he worked predominantly in Retail and Industrials practices, and on both organization and strategy projects. He started his career in the British Army, where he commanded a troop of reconnaissance tanks and skied quite a lot. Sandwiched between these two careers was a brief stint for BP working on Europe’s largest on-shore oilfield, in Wareham, Dorset.
Jules is a great believer in the potential for tech to change the world for the better, if we don’t destroy ourselves with it first.
